Hi my names steve i wondered if it is possible to pay the ibi council tax over the phone. My direct debit failed due to a technical issue and the council wont issue a new instruction. I have tried numerous times to pay on the payment link. And all my attempts are coming up saying non supported cards. None of this is my problem but if anybody can give me an idea to pay i would be very grateful steve

To avoid late fees, overdue charges etc. contact SUMA saspo and ask for their account to pay and arrange for a direct debit.

The OP already has a DD set up but there has been a technical failure.

The OP is asking how to pay a one off payment.

There should be a number, either online or on a letter from the SUMA office. When you call they have an option for English. You will then be able to speak with someone in English. I have called before and the staff have been extremely helpful.

Hope this helps,

Alison

Hi Steve,

I am Spanish, but lived in London and Finland for many years, and when I lived abroad I always paid the IBI over the phone by card.  I moved back to Spain 2 years ago, so I was wondering why I did not see this information on SUMA webpage...

I just gave SUMA a call (as I know what it is like to be in your situation), and spoke to somebody who said that due to the new data protection law, payments cannot be taken over the phone anymore. I explained that your card is not accepted, he said that you should be using a VISA or MASTERCARD as any other card is not supported. (like American express)

If the problem continues, he suggested you contacting them by filling in this form.

https://www.suma.es/en/cuerpo_contacto.xhtml

He said they can send you a payment link. Write to them in English, they have English speaking staff members. Good luck!
