If you are non resident join Starling internet  bank for free and set up a euro account to pay all your direct debits. You need to tell your water companies e.c.t your Starling Euro iban number but it also good as there app lets you put pounds into your account which you can change into euros...

... to pay your  bills at a very good rate. You also get a card to draw money out at a  speed bank which includes CaixaBank which is meant to be  free but i haven.t tried yet as i have only had my account a couple of months but even if i get changed a couple of euros to get my money out its less than the monthly amount bank of Sabadell

Don't use caixa bank.......without going in to the long sad story you will regret it.....trust me

Hello All

Just been reading these posts with great interest as we are in the process of buying and our solicitor is setting us up with Sabadell in order to do so. We will be non resident.

From what I'm reading it seems my best bet is to use Sabadell to purchase the house with funds used from currency fair which is an Irish based exchange company, so I shouldn't incur any charges?

As soon as this is done it looks like I need to get my direct debits etc set up and then leave Sabadell for either Cajamar or Wise?

Will I have to do this in branch at Sabadell and whomever I choose? Will both of my alternatives be able to fulfil my basic needs to run the property?

Any advice will be gratefully received.

Tony

Thanks for your reply.

Am I right in thinking I set up a borderless account with Wise then just add funds(sterling) from my UK account and they will convert to euros to pay DD's etc. Can I get cash out for everyday expenses?

Regards

Tony

Hi.... I don't know if sabadell is the same as bankia but we were advised to pay large amounts of money ie purchase or sale of a house in sums less than 50,000 euros or get charged for the transaction.  We paid our money 275,000 euros in to the account in sums of 49,999 euros.

Crazy ! You get charged for giving them your money

Hi 20kiki

I noticed that you said you were going to sort this May 2020, do I take it that you went to Spain and after a bit more research you decided on Wise and its been Ok since?

If so, it sounds the way to go. Where can you use their debit card?

Thanks
