Suggest another
I have had such terrible service from Deutche Bank in the last four years and I have decided to look for another. Will someone please make a suggestion?

Common practice is that you get a lot of interesting conditions, and after a few weeks you'll get ripped off.

Hi Marco,
I'm with Sabadell and the branch service (Almoradí) is poor, but their extensive ATM network, online banking and mobile app still make them the best option in my opinion. I'm also resident in Spain and so I pay €20 per quarter maintenance fees, but I understand that when I reach pensionable age and start having my UK State Pension paid into Sabadell, that fee will be waived (only 5 years to wait!). Sabadell will also waive the quarterly fee if you buy 2 of their products, such as insurance, savings plan or other investment, although they're typically more expensive than going to the open market.
The only account I've heard of which is completely free of charges is Cajamar's Wefferent, but you'd need to take into account whether you have to pay a fee for cash withdrawals from other banks' ATMs, unless there's a Cajamar branch near you. Hopefully, members with the Wefferent account will be able to advise.
Kind regards,
Kim

Hi
I'm resident and use Wise for everything - almost no fees and the best currency conversion rates.
...and they pay interest (currently) at about 3%
Cheers

Hi Steve,
How do you pay your tax bill to Agencia Tributaria please? I've set up direct debits for other bills using my Wise multi-currency account, as the Belgian IBAN number has been accepted, but AEAT insist on a Spanish IBAN, which is one of the reasons I'm keeping my Sabadell account (that, and not being able to wean my husband off Sabadell's ATMs!).
Many thanks,
Kim

Thank you Kim for reminding me of the hole in my argument!
Yes, income tax is a problem.
In our particular case, neither of us has an income greater than the tax threshold, so we have never had to pay any tax.
But one day it will happen😢
After recommendations on this forum, I tried to open a Wefferent account online, but their app is useless and I, so far, can't be bothered to visit a physical branch.
When I fill in my tax return online, it appears to offer non Spanish IBAN options, but of course I've never had to try it!
I opened an n26 account with Spanish IBAN and experimented with it - nope, not allowed.
Is this not contrary to EU law!? Mind you, when did anybody outside of UK actually obey EU law😂
Cheers
Steve

I know Aeat changed their bank A/c details and doing a search I see that the system has changed and companies are no longer required to have a Spanish Bank A/c since March 2021. Perhaps it applies to individuals as well. Or maybe it is only for VAT etc. I will have a look and see if I can find the official notice mentioned in the article.
Also could it be that Hacienda cannot freeze your account if you don't have a Spanish Bank A/c ?
