Ok. So I purchased an Amazon firestick in the uk, brought it over so I could watch tv but can't get any apps to work. Not iPlayer or replayed or anything. I've read that using a vpn would fix it but I don't really want to subscribe to a monthly fee. This will be used only when we're over for holidays.

any ideas please????

thanks

Kev

If you play them you can get a 2 year deal for $29.99 paid upfront which works out at €1.33/mth.

By 'play them' I mean take out a 14 day FREE trial (truly free as no payment or credit card req) then let it expire.

They will offer you a -70%  deal and if you ignore that they should come back with -79% which is where it costs $29.99.

If you're really clever you could sign up for the free trial over and over again and all you need for that are new email and IP addresses and a bit of browser housekeeping but for a piffling €1.33/mth is it really worth it?

The only downside I've found is that you can't use it over a mobile phone network although that likely applies to VPN's too but in any case is of no consequence to me.

I just use my uk mobile phone data as a mobile hotspot and load the firesticks with apps beforehand and then watch live tv and catch up when out. Been doing this for a few years with no issues.

I brought our Firestick over from UK we have got really good fibre optic internet here so I just loaded Mobdro for UK TV and Ciberflix for all films and box sets no VPN and it works great.

Trust me I am a techniphobe but if you get your phone or tablet etc and google easy step by step download for Mobdro on firestick lots of them come up. Just make sure you are logged onto the internet with your firestick. Follow the instructions it is very simple trust me. I then asked for step by step instructions for downloading firelink if you get this then Cyberflix, Kodi and a lot of others will be there for you to download from a list to watch free movies and TV series. Play about with it, you can't break it, if you get stuck or have a problem just take it back to factory settings. I love messing around now and doing updates. Hope this helps

I use a firestick all the time, you need to download an app called MOBDRO, once you have it you can get instructions on the web how to use it. You can get sky , BT and much  much more.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Hello

The Modbro  app   was closed down earlier this year (around April) and will not return..... I used to watch it

Cheers
