Hi, can anyone recommend a satellite TV repair company / person in Torrevieja? My mum is struggling to get many of the UK TV channels over the last couple of weeks and now all the BBC channels seem to have disappeared completely. She’s had some basic advice over the phone but nothing has worked and really needs someone to go out and have a look. However, she’s an 83 year old widow who is weary of having strangers in the house (I live in the UK) so any recommendations for a trusted tradesperson would be really welcomed. Kind regards, Alan

A number of the freeview channels have gone over to HD I don't know what size the satellite dish is but ours is 1.4 and we use a Sky box.

The channels on our system are now:

BBC 1 801

BBC 2 802

ITV 803

CHANNEL 4 804

CHANNEL 5 805

ITV 2 816

ITV 3 817

ITV 4 818

Hi

The majority of people using satellite TV are all in the same boat (including me).

BBC are cutting costs by not transmitting all their channels in SD any more - and the HD channels are too weak to be picked up by a 1.4m dish. So, for a non-regional version off BBC1 go to channel 801, as has already been suggested.

However, even this is temporary, 801 is also scheduled to close by April next year.

I assume a bigger dish will be capable of picking up the HD channels, but I've not yet seen any suggestion of just how much bigger! Part of the problem is that satellite is increasingly going out of fashion in favour of the internet. As such, your most obvious option is to use BBC iPlayer instead.

Cheers

Steve

Hi BBC etc have changed freqencies and in summer some channels are difficult because of atmospere you need the dish re aligning if its a 1.4 dish if in Torrevieja not if you are further south as signal is weaker. its 40e Stuart is fully trained Sky Installer and has worked in Spain for almost 20 years. His no is 634373797

Regards

Pete
