I have just phoned the place that you apply for a free bus pass and a very rude woman told me that the passes are for Spanish people only! On the website it states that you have to be a resident and on the Padron. I am both. Which is it?

You're correct, Lily. It's for anyone who's on the Torrevieja padron. An English friend who recently moved to La Mata has just recently got a bus pass.
I'm not aware of bus passes being available from any other municipalities, but I stand to be corrected.

Hi, you have to go in person. You then have to ask for a CITA [appointment] for the following day. Take along your paperwork including an up to date Padron showing that you are Resident and on the Padron in Torrevieja. Age is not a problem. You will then go back the following day at the time stipulated time for the appointment. They will give you a form to go to a bank and pay the small charge, cannot remember but maybe around 7 Euros. They will also then give you an appointment to come back another day with the receipted bank form. You then go to the bank and pay the money and get the form receipted as paid by the bank. You then go back with the receipted bank form. They will then take your photograph on their computer and will give you your bus pass. Sounds long winded but does not really take so long. The bus pass seems to last a year and then you have to renew it. Easy when you have done it once. If you need directions, go to the bus station and go down the hill, it is a fair way and on the right hand side.

Hi,
The same in England you need to have 65 years old to have a free pass. Maybe is for the brexit that She answered like that you need to be aware here there is 400,000 English people and in UK Spanish we are only 9,000

I obtained my bus pass this morning.
I went to the office, picked up the form then went to the bank and paid the 7€ fee.
Then went back to the office and was seen straight away.
Sorted the paperwork and then left with my pass.
I'm all it took 55 minutes from start to finish.
Very impressed.

You need to take you NIE and passport plus your rental contact or your appointment for your residence and you will receive it , it's free and takes about 5 minutes good luck.
