Dear all,

yesterday I had made a covid-test for flying home to Germany and unfortunately it was positive. The lady at Imed reception told me that I have to stay at home for 10 days. Is that really all I have to do? Or do I have to send the result to any authority? Or will someone come and control the result? At the moment I am a little bit at a los…

I don't know exactly what you should do apart from isolation then another test. The Community of Valencia phone number for covid advice and information is 900 300 555

If you don't get a better reply from here perhaps contact the German honorary consulate in Alicante, they should have the information that you need.

If you get really sick then call 112.

Thank you for your answers. I am just a little bit confused because in Germany, if you got a positiv result, you first have to do a PCR-test to make sure that you are really positiv, and then someone from the authorities calls you and you must tell with whom you spent the last days and so on. And here they just sent me home and that‘s all. But it is okay, I just didn‘t want to make any mistake.

Hi Alexandra,

the UK Gov advice for UK citizens is to stay indoors and call the regional helpline is Spain, that is the 900 300 555 number that Myra provided. If you read the link from Lynn it is a guide for UK citizens but the same process will apply for any citizen with regards to the actions to take in Spain. It also says that the authorities will contact you but that could take 48-72 hours.

I would ring the helpline and if you do not have any symptoms ask them if it is permitted to have a PCR test to confirm the antigen test result.

Aitch.

Hi Aitch

Thank you for your response. I called the regional helpline number on Friday, was redirected a few times with absolutely no advice other than dial 112. I thought this was an emergency line?? I have read through so much information and cannot find how to obtain a covid recovery certificate to travel home? After testing positive, the tests continue to come out as positive for potentially weeks. I need negative tests to fly home…..

Hi Ange71,

I do not know either how you get a covid recovery certificate. You should call the British Consulate in Alicante and ask their advice, +34 965 21 60 22. I would have thought that you only need have a negative test to travel back but, as you say, if they keep coming out positive that could take some time.

Just to confirm, you are in Spain and you have failed the covid test taken before returning to the UK? That's how your post reads but just to be sure.

Rgds,

Aitch.

Many thanks Aitch for responding

yes we are currently in Spain. Arrived Wednesday 4th August, found out on the 5th that my sons friend in Scotland had tested positive. Tested my son using lateral flow tests and he was positive. We are due to fly home 18th and concerned that his tests will continue to be positive despite us being through the 10 days isolation period.

We haven’t yet taken the tests to return home. We will do this a couple of days before leaving.
