I'm in my late 50s and was wondering when I will be vaccinated. I'm in the Valencia region. My husband who's in his early 60s got vaccinated today. I'm in the vulnerable category but was told that the vaccination programme is based purely on age.

Hi Audrey,

My husband is 63 and received his first AstraZeneca vaccination last week at the Torrevieja mass vaccine centre.  I'm 60 and don't expect to receive my call until next week at the earliest, so I think you will be a week or two behind me.

Spain was supposed to start administering its first delivery of the Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) single-dose vaccine today, but last week's delivery was suspended when early vaccination results showed similar, blood clot side-effects already seen with the AZ vaccine.

In the meantime, you need to ensure, if you haven't already done so, that your contact details, including a Spanish phone number, are up to date at your health centre.

Kind regards,

Kim

I'm 69 and not heard anything yet for dates. I also live in the Valencia region.

You're in the "sandwich", Steve - age group 65 to 79.  They're working from the eldest down, continuing with PfizerBioNTech, so the downside of being jamon or queso is that it may take a little longer for you to get your jabs, but at least you're more likely to get Pfizer 🤗😉

Take care,

Kim

I'm 60 and received my first AZ jab at the Torrevieja mass vaccination centre this morning.  It was very busy, but very well organised.  I was given a laminated vaccination card, on which my first jab had been noted - I was asked to bring it to my second appointment, notice of which I'll receive via text.  When my husband (aged 63) received his first jab a couple of weeks ago, he was advised of the website where he could download confirmation of his jab, so I assume the laminated cards are a new development.
