Hello. Does anyone have any experience of face masks that have room for the air to circulate freely within them? I have seen some on Amazon that look as though they are made of neoprene and have 2 small filters for airflow on the sides. They are advertised for high activity like running and cycling.

Although they look hot and heavy, I wonder if the combination of shape - keeping the fabric from touching your face - and the airflow filters, adequately compensates for this?

I don’t want it for running, just for normal wear. As the weather heats up for Summer, I’d like to source something more comfortable in the heat. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

And before the Drama Queens attack me .. I’m not complaining about having to wear a mask - just trying to be as comfortable as possible while doing so 😉

About 98% of masks selling on-line or in shops are no more than placebo. They offer no surgical protection and certainly none against microbial airborne bacteria. If you want comfort and be able to breathe - go to the local Ferreteria and buy one of the perspex masks that cover your entire face. I wear mine in the heat of Consum and don't feel as if I am going to pass out. PS: I am 66 years old!!

Thank you ConT.

I bought one of these from Alcampo for €1.94 last week, and was pleasantly surprised.

I appreciate it isn’t a fitted mask, so airborne particles can easily travel under it, but it gives some protection both from and to me, and ensures I am compliant.

I also carry a normal 90c mask with me, in case I am forced to be in a more crowded area - which I tend to actively avoid.

These are going to be the norm for some time to come, so I think it’s worth putting a bit of effort into finding the best solution.

My actions exactly. Plus the 2 meter distancing, as added protection. Running should be quite easy to do without wearing a mask but carrying one for the end of the run if you must go near others before you are home.

Stay well . Best Rgds Con

I also picked up a full-face clear plastic mask at our chemist last week.

So far I've only tried it on, but it is certainly far more comfortable than a mascarilla,

It stops me breathing or sneezing on anyone else, and vice-versa, my specs don't mist up, and it doesn't make me feel hot and sweaty.

If you see an old git wandering around Mercadona or Aldi with the mask on, your choice - either stop and say hello, or have a good laugh.

It's going to be ideal for when I'm using my bench sander, as the pads I use in my usual mask soon clog up and need washing.

I also wander around ALDI wearing my "Formal welder's mask" Very comfortable, even forgot I had it on until I tried to put on my reading glasses! The other bonus of this type of mask is that you don't faint in the heat due to lack of O2 and look like you've got Covid...that would clear the aisles!!
