Hi scotslady,

It was your reference to "270 days" that confused me, as that's the validity period for the EU Covid Certificate, whereas the NHS Covid certificate is only valid for 30 days.

In England, the booster jab has been available for 16 and 17 year olds from 17 January, but until the requirements for Spain and the UK concur, this is going to continue to be difficult for families with younger teenagers - although I'm not aware that the UK has any plans to vaccinate 12 to 15 year olds.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim!  Yeah kids in UK have been getting covid vaccinations since last year (I think maybe from around September 🤔) and are now being offered their 2nd. Gone are the days where you just booked a holiday and off you went eh!

Kind regards and Thanks for your input to my posts.

Hi Ian,

It looks like the FAQs on the Spanish Health Form site haven't been updated for months - certainly not since I travelled to the UK last November, as Spain hasn't accepted Covid Recovery Certificates from non-EU citizens, who aren't resident in Spain, for several months.

If you read Gov.UK's "Entry requirements" for Spain, you'll see that it links you to the Spanish Health Ministry website, I referenced in my earlier post:

https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/spain/entry-requirements

As you say, there appears to be contradictory information, but this may work in your favour.  Whatever the Health Ministry publishes, if the understanding doesn't make it through to individual border guards, having a printed copy of the Spth FAQs and your daughter with you, may get you in.  If you're happy to take the risk, good luck!  Do let us know how you get on.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Ian,

I've just been reading an article from "The Local", originally published last November, updated yesterday to reflect the latest rules for entry to Spain and return to the UK.  I think it makes clear the requirement for UK citizens, not resident in Spain and travelling for tourism, to be fully vaccinated, as opposed to unvaccinated Spanish nationals, EU citizens and British citizens resident in Spain, who are still allowed to enter Spain with an Antigen or PCR test:

"What are the rules for entry to Spain from the UK?

"It is not possible for unvaccinated UK tourists to visit Spain – even if they supply a negative Covid test.

"In November 2021, the Spanish government announced that negative Covid tests will no longer be accepted from British visitors looking to spend their holidays in the country from December 1st 2021 onwards.

"Only those that can show proof of being fully vaccinated will be allowed in.

"The UK's high infection rate should have meant non-essential travel for unvaccinated travellers was not possible, but Spain had made an exception.

"However, the appearance of the Omicron variant, forced the Spanish government to introduce further restrictions for its primary tourism market.

"The rule is applicable to UK visitors, but unvaccinated Spanish nationals, EU citizens and British residents in Spain, that fly into the country from the UK, are not affected.  The people in those groups who are not vaccinated can still use an antigen test taken within 48 hours to travel to Spain, or a PCR test taken within 72 hours.

"The vaccination rule doesn’t apply to children under the age of 12 either.

"Those who are vaccinated need to show proof they were fully jabbed over 14 days prior to travel."

As I said in my earlier post, it's exception k. on the Spanish health ministry's website that is key - I think the Spanish Health form FAQs reflect the exceptions for Spanish nationals, EU citizens and British citizens resident in Spain.  The 2 documents need to be read in tandem.

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim,

Thanks for all the feedback and advice on this. I've just spoken with a Spanish friend and she says '2 Jabs minimum, negative test or proof of recovery are no longer accepted'. So we won't be risking it, looks like we'll have to rearrange.

Thanks

Ian
