Bear in mind if you do manage to get a kitchen from Howdens at zero VAT you still have around£200.00 of customs clearance costs to pay to exit the UK ports and enter the Spanish ports, if driving through France a T1 document is required to transit through France to be able to enter Spain that T1 document costs £200.00 to open in the UK and discharge when leaving France.

I try to read every posting which mentions transporting own goods to second home in Spain as we have been doing this before Brexit without any problems, but now find we will have to pay 21%iva and customs duties and pay for customs agents with declarations to be done. Killjoy has stated "generall...

...y own used goods are exempt for tax" but this is totally wrong. Only if you are transferring your primary residence in Uk to Spain will you be entitled to tax exemption via proof of "transfer of residence".

As you are like us trying to transport items to a 2nd home there are no ways to avoid the charges. You have mentioned trying to refund the tax as already paid in Uk and I dont know about that as the goods I want to take are old used belongings. I would be grateful if you gain any info on how one gets the customs process done as gov. UK mainly gives advice on commercial hauliers not individual 2nd home owners doing it themselves. My hubby wants to just load up as before and claim ignorrancy but I fear our van could be confiscated and leave us temporary without transport until it has been sorted out by customs. I, m not agreeable so need to find out what we need to do properly or if it's too expensive to continue, we have a lot to sell off.

I hope you have better luck finding out what the process is than I have had, and please let me know your outcome.

Regards

Pauline
