Flights really kick off in May.  We need Bristol, and Ryanair have 1 flight p.w. in April.

It seems there is an automatic extension due to Covid.

Hopefully the various tests needed now will be unnecessary in the coming weeks.

Thanks to all who took the time to respond. 😉😉

The link posted earlier about the automatic extension was for last spring, not for now. There is transport available from other UK airports to Bristol.

Hello Wendy,

Lots of people are in your position on here  & needing to leave Spain & there are a couple of topics on the subject posted recently.. You say there are few flights but there are plenty leaving from Valencia & Madrid to the UK. I did a search for a  date in early March & ...

...there were 6 in one day leaving from Valencia. It was also pointed out by other members that there are also ferries /buses going to the UK

If you book a flight/ferry  etc.& have travel confirmation to show,  you can travel to wherever you are departing from, without restrictions as long as you are returning to your residential home.

Search for the topic on here & you'll find  replies and  advice....

Cheers

Getting to Valencia is OK. But landing at Gatwick etc. then causes more problems.  We live in the West country. There is no direct transport from Gatwick to Bristol airport.

The bus link takes a long time but the train journey from Gatwick to Bristol takes about 3 hours.  There are other UK destinations you can fly to as well.

Does anyone know how much the fine for overstaying is?  If it’s not enormous I’d stay put until I could get home directly and safely. My heart goes out to every one of you. You are perfectly happy where you are and are now forced to travel home without consideration given that we are still living in a pandemic. Didn’t I read yesterday that everyone has to pay for covid testing while in quarantine? Another huge sum which could go towards the fine. This is an absolute nightmare for holiday home owners.

Hi Grannyrose

The penalty for overstaying. Rather more than just a fine

Ignore my previous post. I googled and there is nothing at all that casts any light on this situation. If it were only a fine, I would probably take a chance but they mention DEPORTATION which shook me big time. So, ignore my post above please.

Hello

Excellent article Ange and should be read by anyone even considering overstaying in Spain  during the next 3/4 weeks. The   consequences of overstaying  are  varied & its unknown what might  apply,  but at least you will be well informed  of the possibilities,  when you do leave!

Cheers

Our 90 days are up at the end of the month, yet returning to the UK is  a problem due to few flights. Has anyone looked into this?

Thanks Wendy

Unfortunately you will be frog marched to the nearest Hotel for 2wks isolation - costing £1700 per head- lockdown rules for anyone returning to the UK from Spain

I'd stay put until the lockdown is relaxed!!!!!!

That only applies to people going to Scotland, not the rest of the UK

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

If you are Irish, you don’t need to worry about the 90 day rule. Ireland is still part of the EU. Quarantine rules are still mandatory

Northern Ireland is different from England. We only have to produce evidence of a negative covid test and then self isolate/ quarantine at home for 10 days.

Scotland. Hotel quarantine for 10 days or longer if you test positive while in quarantine.

England. I’m not certain that everyone has to opt for the covid test while in quarantine. I read something that suggested that if you opt to do this... now wondering if you can choose to quarantine without it.  Worth googling and reading.

Wales.  Sorry, I didn’t see any mention of the rules for anyone from Wales.

Forgive me if I misinterpreted anything.
