My brother is seriously ill in Torrevieja University Hospital. His wife has serious memory problems and is currently being cared for at home by a visiting nurse.

His family in the UK do not know exactly what is happening; prognosis etc, unfortunately his wife is next of kin which really complicates things as she is essentially unable to carry out this function.

How can we get to Spain quickly to see my brother, help his wife and ensure his wishes are being carried out.

Many thanks

Bill

The Spanish Embassy  will issue you paper to gain entry  you will still.need your passport, there is daily  flights from Heathrow to Madrid  or Barcelona  you get one  of these  then the train  to Alicante  the train fare is not expensive then a taxi  to Torrevieja hospital or your brothers home taxi fare from.train station should be around 80 euros.                          Good luck I hope all goes well ,if you have a problem with the phone to the Embassy send email.

There are flights to Madrid each day as I need to get to Spain quickly also. Some consulates are arranging trips by bus also but such a long journey and expensive especially from where I am stranded in Amsterdam. I have tried renting a car from Madrid airport to drive to Torrevieja but all rental companies don't respond unless they are all closed with the lockdown. Anyhow good luck to you.

Well Bill, I asked about what documents I need for the Police and it is not what the Spanish Embassy are telling me in Alicante and also the Netherlands. I have the paper work I need but it is just a case of waiting a little longer unless I fly to Madrid and try and travel from there to Torrevieja, there is a bus from Spanish the Consulate in Amsterdam to Madrid next week but its to expensive and long where as KLM are charging 104 euro one way to Madrid. Flights are arriving every day in Madrid and I have a friend living in Madrid getting back to me with updates. Thanks anyhow.

This post that was quoted has been deleted.

Hello, the Embassy said because I have my exit permit from the Netherlands then I need to show proof of residency. I have my house contract and bank contracts with my addresses on and statements from the notary. They said that would be fine as that is all I have till I get to the estate agents in Torrevieja.

Thanks Bill, I have what I need for papers, it is just transport from Madrid to Torrevieja I am seeking but I can rent a car if the worse comes to it. If I am stopped or turned away then so be it, I have no where else to go or live except my home in Spain. I will let you know what happens to me. Cheers.P.
