This is not I what want hear.  ANY of it 😟

Poor you Micheal,I feel sorry for you,as I have that same fear!

What a coincidence too,as this morning I came down, and there was one (small) one on its back, wriggling in the middle of my lounge.

I rèally didn't expect to see any till next summer?

When we came here 6 years ago,we went for a vino one night, got home, and there were quite a few on our porch, some of which took flight?

My husband was a truck driver, tough??? Wouldn't have thought so when I saw him  hiding behind the car!!

Good luck.Feliz Navidad.

Be grateful it wasnt a spider. My only true lifelong fear. Creepy crawlies dont bother me but spiders, different story. Haha

Not seen any spiders in the house during nearly two years of ownership.  I don’t like them either but maybe they are a more welcome lodger because they dispose of other things.

On balance though I’d prefer a sterile, insect-free environment. I know that’s an impossible wish 😟

It’s totally irrational, I know that.  It’s not like they are scorpions, or any kind of reptile that can and will bite you given the opportunity.  It’s just that they are such dirty little things and it is alarming when they move quickly, especially in my direction!

Happy Christmas to you too

Hi Michael

Both myself and my friend had one in each of our houses this week-haven’t had any in weeks and weeks.

Nothing since so hopefully that’s the end of them. If you are coming back and forward the red can of cockroach spray in Mercadona sprayed around every door, window lasts about 3 months-just remember to cover your nose and mouth when spraying as it stinks!!!

Good luck

Deirdre

I've blitzed the floors with an insecticide solution and also put down six of those Mercadona traps in various places.  Let's see how good those two measures are.  I may be here until March so I would be delighted not to see another one!

Flying?  They fly??????  God almighty, I can’t stand it!  I was paranoid every day last July expecting to see one every time I moved up or down stairs but was nice and relaxed this time....until now!

After breakfast in the morning the floors are getting disinfected and those Mercadona traps are going down.  How do they work by the way?  Is there some kind of poison inside them?...

...

Can I deduce from your name that you have a cat by the way?  If so, are they any good as a deterrent?  Presumably not.  This kind of thing gets me thinking more and more about paying the estate agent a call and bailing out.  Extreme reaction, I know, but the way things are going it might be worth considering .  I have been considering it these last few weeks, definitely 😟

Yes, they do fly!!!! Some years ago I had one land on my torso one evening. I am sure the scream I let out could be heard in Torrevieja. I am a real wimp when it comes to them!!!!

Do not kill them by stamping on them!!! You will walk the eggs around your house and they will hatch and you then have many in the months to come!!!!!

No I haven’t stamped on any but have hit them with something solid.  It’s amazing how hard it is to kill them though.

Disgusting creatures 😡

I buy Maton.  The red tin. Less than €4 and lasts a year  , I do it every time I’m there as I leave.  Brilliant. When I leave my house down in Mojacar , I use black gaffa tape to seal the bottom of my doors from the outside as I leave .  I spray the Maton. everwhere round every corner in my house .As I back out lol.  IF anything at all gets in,and we are normally away six months in summer ,  they die within a foot of entry. Cannot recommend it enough.   I am totally paranoid too lol.  I leave my house hermetically sealed lol. I hope this helps.
