My parents are looking to buy a holiday home but need to have a community/friendships group and company (they don’t want a caravan park!) but like the idea of community feel and activities my dad is a carer for mum but they are both active and need and want to be involved in events and socialisation and not late night partiers. Limited budget but the right community and opportunity for company is the priority they are not very technical

Hello Joanna, the first thing would be getting to and from the airport and are they happy to run the gauntlet of hire cars each visit or would they prefer something wihin easy walk or taxi ride from Torrevieja bus station with the direct airport bus service? Also consider how the property may suit long term if they become less mobile because it is very expensive to buy and sell here, about 13% over the purchase price for buying, and it could take some time to sell as there is always plenty of competition.
The best advice is to find a rental for just short of 90 days if possible and try before they buy instead of trying to find something within a week's holiday.
The areas just to the north of Torrevieja centre up to La Mata and going inland either side of the CV905 are areas to look at and are on bus routes. The area to the south of Torrevieja,(  the Orihuela Costa ), is very popular but there are many complaints about the lack of facilities and investment here and it can get tremendously busy in high season.
In most areas there are social and hobby groups.

Super useful they don’t plant to ‘live’ there but use maybe a few weeks at a time I am in my 40s with relatively young children so looking for very much long long term I think rather than a cheap flip or buy and sell amenities is key, dads happy to drive there so am I/we but good transport is essential we are used to Alicante and they’ve had a share in place in albir for years been going there over 25 years now but defo not the area they or we want. Don’t want the hustle and chav of Benidorm ….. my hubby and I love the feel of the old town but not bothered about the beach.

we love to be by water or marina my hubby’s a huge water sporter at hime we live in swansea by the sea and have a weekend place by the coast too so water and scenery is key but also always had caravan/holiday oak life with our weekend home …… and wanting that ready made community and entertainment when needed and wanted in evenings for all ages, things for everyone to do (we’re not the sit and watch tv and drink type of family) dad and mum are thriving and striving for company and to have this very much on their doorstep

welcome any thoughts or ideas or reference me to any forums/articles or groups been looking near the salt lakes and the like but so thankful to anyone that can help us to explore further.

mand yes once we have areas in mind we plan a few trips to go and explore further
