Hi everyone, I'm looking for some advice/ perspectives on different locations in the Oriheula Costa region. My husband and I have a viewing trip in 2 weeks' time with a view to purchasing a holiday apartment.

We're considering Torrevieja, Villa Martin, Playa Flamenca etc. We're looking for an area that's close to a beach, has good restaurants and shops, good transport links. We also want somewhere that's not too busy during the summer,  but equally isn't a ghost town in the winter!

I like the idea of being close to the beach, however I've heard that Torrevieja can be very busy during the summer months- any thoughts on this?. We've also seen some nice properties in Villa Martin and wonder how busy that area is all year round, how easy is it to walk to a beach (or get a bus) as we're unlikely to have a car. We are both pretty active so would like to have somewhere where we access running routes, my husband also likes to play golf.

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

Rachel

Hi Rachel,

We were in a similar situation a few months ago, with the same criteria and visited all the resorts and places you mentioned. In the end we chose Villamartin. We are happy with our choice. The only drawback is that it's not walking distance to the beach but then, a 5/10 drive will take us to a couple of blue flag beaches.

With a grandson, we would need a car to go to the beach anyway so not having a place by the beach was the compromise that we have to make. We are all there in 2 weeks time and are looking forward to enjoying our new place in the sun.

Hope this is helpful

We bought about eighteen months ago beach side of the N332 in La Zenia half way between La Zenia and Cabo Roig roundabouts, the area itself is quiet but is ideally located as in different dierctions it is ten minutes walk to the main La Zenia beach or Cala Capitian beach, to the main Cabo Roig stris with all its bars and restaurants, to La Zenia commercial centre with more bars, restaurants and supermarket and twenty minutes walk to the fantastic Zenia Boulevard with excellent shops and restaurants.

Thank you - I do very much like the look of the area ( well, the 'virtual' look as we've not yet been there!). Do you know how easy it is to get a taxi or bus down to the beach area?

Thanks

Sorry we don't know. We have so far rented a car for practical reasons. We have been furnishing the property and have found it necessary to rely on our own transport. Our neighbours have told us though that bus services are very reliable. As we get used to the area, we will no doubt be using the bus stop which is very close to our new property near the plaza.
