A solicitors major concern is to "be busy" the longer the better. Do you have an agrement regarding his fees?

His fees including the notary should be in the 1500e ballpark.
I paid slightly more 1600e but he got my NIE and opened a bank account for me

Did the money you paid go to the agent? Surely if it did and they haven't given you a receipt your solictor can put pressure on them to give you a receipt which must have some kind of date for when you can expect to go ahead with it all and see the notary. We recently had to renew a habitacion certificate as the original had run out and it was nowhere near 8 weeks to do this.
Personally I would speak to your solicitor about what you have paid, take a denuncia out against the agent and walk away. If the vendors/agents are so unhelpful at this point when they want you to buy what will they be like as it proceeds.
Its a shame the agent can't be named to warn everyone else off using them.

100% agree No Habitation cert DO NOT BUY and it is your solicitor that should be advising on exactly what your rights are!
Hi, now my solicitor is saying that the certificate won’t be ready till mid August !! But the sale can still go ahead , and they have had a ‘ verbal ‘ agreement from the town hall that everything is okay. This certificate was apparently applied for at the beginning of May, and he ( my solicitor ) said in a earlier email that he would not advise me to sign anything till this certificate was in . Now he is ? Plus said they would ask for a 150 Euro retainer , which to my mind is way to low, but not relevant as I won’t sign without the certifacite . At the moment it looks like I won’t be getting my little bungalow , can’t believe how difficult all this has been and still were I was back in May .

Thanks Pete, but I did put my deposit down in March , so you see this is stretching it out a bit . It’s just that the solicitor contradicts him self just a bit to much for my liking. But waited this long so we shall see, and thank you for your advice 👍
