I've a couple of holes id like to drill into my apartment walls, for which I'd feel happier if I could first be 100% sure there were no cables or pipes nearby. I'm hoping someone in Torrevieja might be able to lend me their multi detector, just for an hour or so. Its a one-off exercise (I'll be unlikely to ever need to check again), hence my reticence to buy another expensive gadget which will simply lie in a drawer :-). Fingers crossed! Louise

Not that I can find. Ive even been to a couple of ferrataria to try and buy one, as my time for this visit  is fast running out, and they don't even know what one is! (Showing them pictures, Spanish name etc... ). If all else fails, I'll have to get one in UK and do these jobs next time :-).

Thank you for your thoughts Richard. You may have read in my earlier posting that I'd be delighted to buy one, if only I could find one.. so maybe you could be helpful and suggest from which shop I might purchase one.

Try AKI - lower floor in the Haberneras - or Leroy Merlin?

Tried Leroy Merlin first off. Aki, from website,  didnt look like it stocked nearly as much stuff as LM, so I hadn't tried there as I figured chances very slim. However, if you think it's likely they have more/different tools to LM, then happy to get the bus there.

You are a star Pete - thank you. Unbelievably.. or maybe not.. I asked about them in store at the tools section, backed up with pictures and Google translation (and where, in fact, they spoke pretty good English).  And they told me they didn't sell anything like that.  So I took them at their word. Doh! Thank you again, you have been very helpful

Ahh thank you. Unfortunately I don't have a car, so will decline your very kind offer :-). In fact I was just now bemoaning about it all to my sister and apparently her partner has one!  So I'm going to borrow his and bring it with me when I next come over. And then I'm promising myself that my visit after that will include no DIY whatsoever! :-). Thank you again Pete.
