Hello - we do have a lot  of impact noise from the people in the apartment above (dropping things/shoes tapping etc) and they don’t have carpets.  We are interested in having soundproofing just on our bedroom ceilings (we know it won’t get rid of it all but wanted to see if it takes off some of the noise 🤞🤞

Has anyone had it done and if so is there anyone you could recomend?

Thanks

Marie

Install a completely independent false ceiling, underboarded with 2 layers of plasterboard with joints staggered, and 50mm of quilt insulation above the plasterboard. This will give you excellent sound insulation. This can also be utilised on shared walls.

I can't recommend a builder to do it though.

Thank you for this information - I just need to find a builder to do it now🤞😉

Kind thoughts

Just wondering if you are on a community whether you could raise this as an issue which if everyone addressed it could make life better for all. We have a first floor apartment, and whilst we don’t believe we are too noisy, and we don’t have noisy neighbours above - we have tried to do little things which help eg those little rubber/ felt feet to go on the dining chair legs, rugs on the hard floors etc. Sometimes people who play noisy music for example don’t realise how much can be heard in a neighbours property until it has been brought to their attention. I would certainly explore all options before investing in expensive building work 👍

We used to have neighbours in our semi detached house, we could hear everything and at times it was hell. Fast forward, bank repossessed their house and new neighbours moved in. They completely refurbished the house including the installation of sound proofing on the adjoining walls. It’s an excellent job. We can hear the landline ringing but little else.

Definitely soundproof your ceilings.  I’d do all the ceilings while you are at it. If you don’t, you’ll regret it. It must be like Chinese torture for you. Which side of Torrevieja are you located as I may be able to find a good builder on the La Mata side?
