I just picked up a Famaval 1.4m dish and LNB, Plonked it on the roof  and pointed it at 137Degs, Now the fun begins with the final panning/tweaking..

I have Hotbird at present and streaming with a little box but it is very iffy. I refuse to pay for illegal TV. If I can get it free ok!!

Some years ago I paid for SKY, code and transponder changes stopped that, Never again, Never say Never. HaHa.

Good luck, I heard of some good deals for 79E a year. Check out the local rags.

BTW. In Italy last month they nobbled 1500 people using illegal sky, porno and footy stuff, big fines and a criminal record!

If produced in the last decade or so your TV should be capable of receiving digital terrestrial TV (analogous with UK Freeview) but there are very few English channels available on that in Spain so probably won't be for you.

Some Spanish ISPs provide a selection of channels alongside their internet service but you're too far away from me to comment on what may be available in that vein.

Failing the above Freesat and Freeview from Sky can be viewed in Spain exactly as it can be in UK the only difference being the size of dish you need to pick it up, many get by with 1.4m but that can be marginal in some weather conditions so where the space is available 1.8m is frequently used but even with that size it's still possible to suffer partial or complete loss of reception in heavy rain.

In the unlikely event that your TV has a built in Freesat receiver then can plug a feed from a dish directly into it but if not then you will need an external box which can be Freesat or Sky.

The other option of course is IPTV which will work on any TV with an HDMI port. I don't propose getting into a discussion about the pros or cons of that other than to say that it's the solution of choice for I would say 50% if not the majority.

The previous posters comments re Italy are pure scaremongering and right here and now I'll offer a €20 note to the first person who points to a genuine and verifiable case of just one single IPTV end user in Spain ever being prosecuted for it.

I have heard of nothing in Spain either. Only Italy, note this did not concern UK SKY.

A friend here has, he says 6000 channels for 79E a year on IP.  Stuff from all over the world and the quality that I saw, was far superior to my crappy little android IPTV box connected to a 200Mb fibre. So that's the way to go!

I have always been surprised by the expat focused newspapers running ads for the afore mentioned services. I wonder if the same type of offers are available for Tequila and Canal+ etc. in the Spanish press.

I had Telecable internet installed just before lockdown. It’s been pretty good. Much better than the orange “en casa” wifi.

As for UK tv, I opened an account with TVMucho.  We find there is enough to watch between that and Netflix from time to time.

I can view it on my lg smart tv by using the preinstalled web browser.  Controls are a bit ...slow...whereas on my iPad it’s much easier to select your viewing menu.  You could always connect the iPad to the tv via cable.  I often line up a bunch of programmes I want to watch on the iPad first then go to the tv browser.

We have U.K. TVs, we bought Replacement leads from a hardware store over here quite cheaply to do away with using any adaptor. We set the tv to receive transmissions in original language (English) which increases the amount of channels we can watch. We watch the news and weather forecast in Spanish in an attempt to improve our language skills. We also have Netflix and Amazon Prime, along with a large library of DVDs. The aerial from the tv plugs into The wall socket.

Just one thing for anyone that is not here for most of the year, check that you can stop and start the contract as required.
