My apologies if you found my observations to be both irritating and condemnatory. I’m acutely aware of how exhausting their shift may have been. I do however believe that as care givers, they have an obligation, as far as practical, to keep themselves and the residents they care for safe.

Care work historically is not always well paid, therefore I appreciate the need to share the cost of the taxi. I do however think that sharing a taxi that may have done many more journeys without being thoroughly cleaned, without some PPE, somewhat irresponsible...

...

Understood; however, how do we know that the taxi driver has not cleaned his cab - people offering this kind of service are usually extremely aware

I did say may have done journeys without being cleaned. No one knows, therefore, my thoughts only, better to err on the side of caution

I have not used a Taxi but I have seen from our balcony when a neighbour has been dropped off by a Taxi the driver has cleaned inside his car before driving off, hopefully they are all doing this.

RayD. This has been discussed over the last 2 or 3 weeks. & over the last couple of days & only yesterday. There seem to be  either "for" or "against" (masks).

The recent reports (& ongoing on both UK & ES tv at the moment) is now (at last concentrating on this issue). I have believed  for weeks that the masks prevent the wearer spreading the virus to others, only. The discussion will carry on (no doubt)

an except from today:

Government scientists are expected to recommend that the public should not wear medical face masks but could choose to wear a scarf or face covering during the coronavirus outbreak.

The scientific advisory group on emergencies, known as Sage, meets on Thursday to discuss the benefits of masks and is expected to tell ministers that the medical grade coverings should be prioritised for health workers only.

The World Health Organization has said there is little evidence masks act as a preventive measure to infection.

Ray, I think you said it yourself, you both wore masks and gloves, therefore minimising any risk to each other. Yes the three carers had been working together and it could rightly be argued posed no/ minimal risk to each other. But the taxi driver? I am not suggesting that his taxi wasn’t cleaned, but the carers wouldn’t know if it had or hadn’t. With this as an unknown and the driver not wearing a mask, I would suggest caution would have been advisable, particularly given their profession

Hi

Sorry to hear you have been in lock down for so long without exercise. I have osteoporosis and do morning exercises every day when I get up to help get my pins working again after laying in bed all night. It really helps. I'm not sure how your restrictions are out there as I am in the uk. Are you able to walk to the shops. Do your shopping and your husband could take them home in the car. You could leave shopping trolley by the car where he is parked and walk home? Just a suggestion.  I'm gutted that we will not be able to visit our place in torrevieja this year. We retired at christmas and was hoping to spend more time in Spain. We had booked for this month and June. Never mind it is what it is. Take care x

Not sure this post is for me?  Will reply anyway.  I have arthritis in my feet, and as the shops are a 20 min walk away for someone able bodied,it would prob take me half a day??? May just make it there, but wouldn't be able to get back. I get some weird and wonderful shopping,or nothing at all as the 'marido' gets impatient and skips items!! Lesson to all new brides, teach the fella how to shop, wether they like it or not!!  Jan,since the LD our weather here in Torre has come out in sympathy, and we haven't had good weather at all. Hopefully change soon? You'll be back here before you know it. Stay safe.

Update re masks. news UK & Spain this morning.

The discussion will carry on (no doubt)

an except from am 23rd April.

Martin Marshall, chair of the Royal College of General Practitioners, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme there was no research to support wearing a mask if you were fit and well, and there was even a risk of picking up the infection if people were constantly adjusting it and touching their face.
