OK, now your situation is clearer, how far away from Benijofar would you consider? Anywhere in North or South Costa Blanca, coastal, inland, high expat population or traditional Spanish, for example? Will you want your children to go on to higher education such as Read more...

A large percentage of forum members are retired or semi-retired and have never had contact with schools but this may help, https://spainhomes.com/blog/life-in-spain/schools-in-costa-blanca

Note that some lessons may be in Valenciana.

This is an older thread Help on schools in Spain. State school or international?

I am sorry for all the questions but having been on the forum for about 5 years the same things come up again and again and you would be surprised how may Brits plan to move to Spain with little understanding of the processes involved, including needing to take a Spanish driving test within 6 months.

I hope the above will be of some help.

Thanks for the information I will have a look at the links. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Michi

I would now ask you the question, what type of area you would prefer? Would it be somewhere on the coast or inland? More traditional Spanish or somewhere with a larger immigrant community? Southern Spain which is hotter or a little further North which is more temperate?

I think it would be useful to members of the forum if they knew what type of lifestyle you were looking for and that way they could advise you accordingly.

Hi we are looking along the coast about 20 mins away if possible but our main concern is the state schools. As we will locate around that.my husband suffers from arthritis so the hotter climate helps him.

Hello, one of the Costa Blanca, and actually Spain’s best schools, both Primary and High School is El Limonar International School. Now they are private, but teach both in English and Spanish, and when graduating, you get both the UK and Spanish diplomas ( will most probably change into the IBa...

... in the future as the UK diploma is becoming irrelevant in the EU).

In terms of State Schools, they are not bad, but do understand that you will need to speak Spanish in order to interact with the teachers, to supervise their homework etc etc.

Also, part of the curriculum WILL be taught in Valenciano, and not in Castellano. Please be aware of that.

a very good State Primary school is the one in San Miguel de Salinas. People move there just to get into the school.

Hi thanks for the information I hadn't looked at that area il have a look.

I have lived in Almoradi that is about 20 minutes' drive inland from Torrevieja for almost 17 years.   We have a good medical centre, several State Schools, several supermarkets plus many other different types of shops, several petrol stations and several electric charging stations for cars, a bus station (but not many buses), town hall, church, local police station, Guardia Civil station, several fiestas with parades every year, lots of bars and restaurants of all price ranges and a football team with it's own ground.   Also there is a good outdoor market that takes over the roads around the town's central square every Saturday morning.

A couple of websites that may be of interest are as follows:

Citizens Advice Bureau Spain for bureaucratic stuff, and

N332 for anything to do with driving in Spain.   This site, and their Facebook, is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.

Hi. I live in Santa Pola with my 3 children (14, 13 & 4). It’s a very Spanish area but close to Elche, Alicante and not far from lots of expat places. My 3 children attend state schools and all are doing really well. Alicante is a great area for kids with lots to do. I personally love all of the Costa Blanca and it’s a great outdoor type of life. Alicante and Elche have numerous state and private schools. The only thing I would say is because we are in Valencia they will be taught in Valencian as well as Spanish. This hasn’t been an issue so far and the older two have extra lessons in school each week.

There are numerous Facebook groups as well which may be helpful. Feel free to message me if you have more questions.

Hope this helps a little 🤷🏼‍♀️
