Does anyone know of a solicitor who deals with Medical Negligence

What you need is a medical certificate from a "medico forense", the only competent, and if said certificate does not contain any culpable conduct, i.e. neglilcted assistance, I see poor chances for a successful ending. Spanish courts are overburdenend, and state attouneys usually deny public interest refusing criminal prosecution. Civil action can take years and even if you are successful, your expenses will not necessarily be imposed to the defeated. Sorry to say that, but this is how things work here.

Re the appointment - if it's a referral for surgery you can (I'm told) check where you are in the queue here https://www.san.gva.es/web/dgas/consulta-personalizada 

You could also go to the enquiries desks on the lowest floor of Torrevieja Hospital and ask when your appointment might be (take your SIP card and any paperwork that the doctor gave you).

If you download the GVA Salut app you can text them directly and state you have been referred and are still waiting and need appt.  I did this, although for nothing as important as your situation, and had a virtually immediate reply and an appointment.

Steve, my apologies. This is a confusion on my part. We are affiliated to the Denia health system and the organisation, Marina Salud, has a separate app which I have, through which one may make these arrangements, queries etc etc. Our local Centro runs under their auspices.

Ok, no problem. In Torrevieja we used to have something similar, but it was removed by the powers that be (in their infinite wisdom)
