Hi All,
I’m completing on a property next week that will be used as a holiday home. Can anyone recommend some good house insurance companies.
Also does anyone know anything about key holding services over there? Is it a good idea to use one or not? Anybody got any recommendations?Or has anyone got any advice on what companies not to use?

I can personally recommend Alfonso of Gran Alacant Insurances who advertise down the right hand side of this page, he was very proactive on a recent car insurance claim.

I would recommend this company too. We have both car and home insurance with them.

I think any recommendations put forward should mainly contain experiences of how the insurance company acted when any claims were put forward, as that’s when a company’s true service can be measured, Cost is obviously a big factor too, but a company providing a policy for 100euro less than another may not necessarily be the one to go with
I have both home and car insurance with Liberty Seguros through Alfonso at Gran Alacant Insurances and the electrics on my car basically shut it down. I knew I had cover for a grua to get the car to the garage so I rang Alfonso and he arranged this and then told me that after 7 days in the garage I had cover for a Group C hire car for up to 35 days including taxis to get to the airport to collect the car and from the airport to the garage when the car was fixed. We ended up with the hire car for about 20 days and Alfonso made all the calls for us. The excess on the policy didn't apply.
I went to Alfonso originally due to recommendations on here re the floods in September 2019 when he helped all his customers reach settlement swiftly and even some who were not, yet, his customers.
I used to be with Linea Directa and didn't need to claim but judging by the bullying tactics they used when I cancelled my policies, I'm glad I never had to.
The premiums with Alfonso are only slightly more than Linea but the service more than makes up for it.
I have every confidence that whatever happens, Alfonso has got my back.
