property insurance

Is it worth insuring your apartment in Torrevieja? If so, what insurance companies can you suggest and what would be the price?

Hello

Yes it is important to insure your property. Often apts adjoin other apts..... above, below, next door etc .so water/fire leaks & damage could affect your neighbours as well as you, also break ins/theft are fairly common in some parts of town so best to be insured for any of the above .

The cost will depend on the size of the apt. location and your own security measures so get some free quotes from individual companies. I am with Mapfre but there are several to choose from.

I read the following very recently,but not sure how true it is?

If your home is a holiday home,and it is left unnocupied by 60 days or longer,there is no pay out?

Worth a check before you take out insurance though.

Worth a check before you take out insurance though.

Every insurance company has different conditions. I’m with Liberty Seguros and I can leave the apartment empty for 180 days with an option to extend the period if needed.

My U.K. insurance company is 60 days with reduced cover.

That was something I saw on Named and Shamed.

The insurance company wasn't actually mentioned,but the poster said most company's adhere to this rule?
