In principle there are two kinds of visa for which you may apply, this needs to be done from your home country, presumably UK.
First is non lucrative visa, which does not permit you to undertake any kind of work for financial gain.
Second is working visa. For this you need to be sponsored by prospective employer which will require relevant paperwork and, as has been said, may be difficult unless you have a specialised skill which may be required but with no Spanish practitioners.
Or you may apply for the above if you intend to start a business yourself, which again would need to be demonstrated with all the imagined documents and funding. You would also need to register as autónomo, self employed, with all the Social Security and tax obligations .
For the NLV you will now need to demonstrate an annual income for a couple of some 32000eu, plus another 6000 for each dependent. You will need fully comprehensive medical insurance for each member of the household, paid in full in advance. After the first year you may apply to join the Valencian Convenio Especial, which may be less costly. Be aware that prescription costs are rarely covered by medical insurance.
This has all transpired since Brexit, which, as has already been stated, has made life increasingly difficult for those wanting to start a new life here.
Many people who came in earlier years and who scraped by on a wing and a prayer were technically here illegally as they may not have registered for Residencia nor tax obligations etc. This route is not really something which should be considered, rules have tightened and it would be asking for trouble.
