There is a lot of good things to say about Torreta, any real estate agent will tell you that. (<https://www.engelvoelkers.com/en-es/torrevieja/blog/top-5-places-to-live-torrevieja/>)  Also many people are happy living there.

The most discussed downsides are the mosquitos and other water breeding insects due to the fact that Torreta is close to a lake and wet areas that are ideal for mosquito breeding, the flooding problems, that may or may not be delt with (<https://theleader.info/2023/04/20/plan-to-finally-deal-w...

...ith-flooding-in-torrevieja/>), some periodically garbage issues, and finally it is said to be one of the more popular areas for squatters. Still there are people who love it there, and being one who don't  live in that area, my perseption may be flawed.

Thank you, good information.

Mind the "Torretas" area.

The worst area for mozzies is the area south of Economy where the nice houses are. The pong is quite exceptional there too, along with the flooding. Check out the Anti flood boards or the slides on the gates for the boards. Also the area next to Carrefour floods quite well! The problem with the mozzies in the Torretas is down to people being absent poor pool mantenance and plant containers etc.. With the schools here now I reckon they will be spraying in a few days as the mozzies start to hatch. (10 days after the start of the rain) The usual cause here are the drainage tracts on either side of the cv905 and the above mentioned things. Mozzies don't like salt water! so I don't reckon the salt lakes have much to do with it. Ask people sitting outside Shannon what they think in a few days. Squatters  seem to like the houses repossed by the banks as it is difficult to get them out I am in torreta 2 and I don't know of any squatters, those that don't pay their rent, yes, in the 5 years I have been here.
