So I bought a place in 2019. The aircon SEEMS fairly new and works well in the summer, but I noticed it doesn't seem to heat up much when using it for heat.  I have never had aircon before, so I don't know if this indicates it needs a service or to be replaced. Does anyone have an idea and, if I need a service, any recommendations and a pot shot of what I should expect to pay for a routine service.  Apologies for all the questions, we don't have much need of AIRCON in  IRL and probably the UK!

Have you tried cleaning the filters in the inside units in case they are blocked.

Thanks Paul, I'm useless at DIY except painting, so no, I don't  even know where the bloody things are...! I'll see if I can find em, but not usually my cup of tea, this DIY business! Hence, post.

Hi,

The units inside house, they will just pull open on a hinge and then you will see the filters which easily come out. It will be dusty work and do not get them damp as they need to be absolutely dry.

If that's not successful I think problem will be lack of gas, would suggest you will not pay more than 100 euros to have it recharged, possibly 60to 70euros obviously you would need a air conditioning engineer to do this

Good luck

Paul

Thanks Paul for such a detailed reply. Very much appreciated!   I'll give it a shot.   I have a sense  I might be seeing an engineer tho.

Hi Declan,

Presumably, your units have remote controls?  If so, have you checked what the temperature setting is on Heat mode?

Kind regards,

Kim

Hi Kim

Thanks for the response.

I do have temp controls. I set them to 30C but the air coming out certainly didn't feel like anywhere near 30.  I had played around with the controls to see if it made a difference, but not noticiably.  I took Paul's advice, opened panels and cleaned the filters. They weren't particularly dirty, but it seems warmer,  someone told me in a shop earlier, that last night was the coldest in 20 yrs (she heard this on the radio).

Hi Declan

The max you want to set them is 22 otherwise you will get a large bill, that temp should be enough, although it sounds like you are short of gas to me, the gas is compressed to produce the heat and obviously if there is a shortage then this will cause a limitation to the amount of heat it produces.

Thanks Paul

I'll get it looked at, I didn't think the gas was relevant to heating, but clearly it is. I'll book a service. Is there any recommendations for an engineer from anyone in the Torrevieja area?

I'm not from area but I think there is a decent one a couple ok of doors away from Iceland going opposite direction from the town.

Good luck

If not then try googling an air conditioning engineer near you.
