Might have to get married then! I can piggy- back off him if we can prove our relationship.

Hi civil partnership was not recognised for us so we nipped off to Gibraltar and got married. As soon as we had marriages certificates, apostilled, translated etc everything is as easy as anything.

I could get a NLV whilst he just uses his EU passport but it seems easier (and cheaper!) for me to get a 'family reunion visa'

Hi can you explain the process as we’re in a similar position

Thanks

Yes that’s a good idea as long as folk can each meet the financial criteria if they are English (not Irish). It all depends on your circumstances.

I got residency 5 years ago when the financial criteria was only 8000€ each but I wasn’t working and so needed to apply with my husband who was on a good salary here.

I will be applying for residency off of Damian's EU passport so that I don't need to get a NLV

I've got NZ/British passport, Damian has an Irish one so I will be 'piggy-backing' off of him to get residency, once we are married, of course!
