Are there special bags to use when recycling organic food waste? The website isn't clear about this.

I haven't heard of special colour bags for food waste. Food recycling bins are brown. As far as I know, there are none in Orihuela nor Orihuela Costa. If anyone sees one, please let us know. I don't know if they have them in Torrevieja. This doesn't answer your question but if anyone has any more information it would help us all.

Your best solution would be to ask at the local Ajuntamiento. I don’t think it’s much of a ‘thing’ here yet; in our area there appears to be one small brown bin on the outskirts of the village and that’s it. A key to access it has to be obtained from the Ajuntamiento. I suspect its because there may not be that sophisticated a recycling facility .
