Yep, and unless utility services have changed, the last time I was there they were still using bottled gas...RIP doesn't mean rest in peace"""

Pete - if I were an Elec Eng then I wouldn't need to seek advice on this forum! - I presume I have an old style Meter as it's just a box on the wall with 6-7 fuses (none of which are marked!) - nor have I been able to pinpoint what makes the system trip.......I suspect it may be the cooker but have no idea how I could isolate this?

Hi 20kiki, The advice I offered to Melanie is also relevant to you too.

You do now state you suspect it is your Oven at fault and yes it could well be but again , without actually inspecting your Electrics , as Melanie has arranged, then it's difficult to give accurate advice.

In The UK, it is mandatory for Higher rated Cookers, Ovens and Hobs to be wired into the Fusebox onto their own individual wiring circuit and their own circuit breaker at the fusebox ( consumer unit )... In Spain ?

In The UK it is also mandatory for all fixed Electrical appliances including Cookers, Ovens and Hobs to have an 'on/off switch positioned adjacent to them to facilitate ready isolation of the appliance . In Spain ? Very rare , certainly in domestic properties !!!!!

You do state your fusebox contains fuses , if this is so and it is not the more modern type containing circuit breaker switches then my best advice would be to employ a Qualified Electrician ,as fuseboxes in Spain with the 'older ' style of fuse protection at the fusebox  can be extremely dangerous to work on unless conversant with Spanish Electrical systems .

Pete - you could be talking a foreign language for all I know about electrics - is there anyone local to Toretta Florida who could check my circuit board for the fault???

I don't return to Spain until May but would welcome someone who can do this
