As you are a non-resident you can now only stay for 90 days in a rolling year so I would just transfer money with Currencies Direct or Wise when you need to.  It takes seconds to do.  You never know when you may want the money in the UK as you will be there more than in Spain.  If ...

...you need extra money when you are in Spain just send more across from the UK.

"90 days in a rolling year "??? 🙄

Whilst it's true you can receive your pension direct to your Spanish account direct you will be asking DWP to do 4 changes per year(each 90 day period) and I, m pretty sure they wouldn't be happy doing that as its intended for permanent Spanish residents to receive their pensions for all future time. I also endorse the use of a currency company as their small charge is often compensated by a much better exchange rate and you also have choice of picking the best rate for the time. We have been doing the 90dayx2 visits since 2016 as first as a trial before Brexit and help with decision re residency. It's worked out best for us and I watch out for best rate times with Wise. I use them for transfers but unsure if you had a bank account with Wise whether you then get the transfer done free.

I have lived in Spain for some years and I also get my UK state pension paid into my Barclays UK account. I've used Wise for 7 years to transfer pension money to Sabadell Bank when the exchange rate is higher. Never had any problems and money is transferred in seconds.

Hi

We are not residents, but we are here for 80 days, we bank with Santander in UK, and they don’t  charge us transferring to our Spanish bank account, you could enquire if it helps.

You would be better off having a Pound and Euro account with starling bank when you're in Spain you pay in euros when you're in England you pay in pounds

At some point in the journey it will need to be converted into euros, and if you leave that to your bank you will get a very poor exchange rate!

Mine is sent directly from the U.K. and it’s sent in euros without any charges As the U.K. pensions people exchange so much to be sent to Europe they get a good exchange rate

You have got a number of ways you can do it with most covered by other responders.

If you want better control of the rate transfer at and be able to hold multi currency in the same account try revolut. It allows to hold euros and Sterling plus spend without cost.

Patrick, I understand that you are trying to gain some business but......The UK pension department will transfer your pension money directly into euros if they deposit it into your Spanish account.

Steve

And DWP transfer it at a very good rate!

Another vote for using ‘Wise’ by me. I’ve been using it for years to send money all over the world - you get virtually the interbank exchange rate and minimal fee to do so.

Another option would be to get a Revolut debit card - again interbank rate and no fees.
