It’s not just about charges. The banks tend to give you poor rates. In April I transferred €270k to buy a house. I registered with lots of uk companies and asked friends who had already done it. I had a superb service and great rate from GCEN.

GLOBAL CURRENCY EXCHANGE NETWORK.

Yes I was worried sick handing over all that money and waiting for Spain to acknowledge receipt,,,but it worked seamlessly. You wil. Have to register your details with them due to money laundering. It’s all dead simple and they are human and enjoy a laugh with you.

If you want to ask about it message me for my number to chat. And no, I don’t work for them! Lol Jon

Check rates with online companies as usual at commercial rate and no charges. This is useful for buying too asyou can fix rate so you know what you are paying as market can effect euros and drop from1.13 to 1.10 will make difference. Have currency’s direct as mentioned and also rational FX. But...

... as mentioned we only paid money to solicitor. Hope helps

Hi did you find Rationsl FX good to deal with ? And when do you send the balance over to them , this is the bit I’m confused about 🙄

Transferwise less than 4 hours if done in a morning pay with card in bank later one of the best rates and quickest around as said previously let your solicitor deal with it and keep the cash on account.

Good luck

I expect you have a solicitor in place but if not do be careful handing money over as a deposit to anyone? other than on the advice of a solicitor.

A good solicitor will advise you the correct procedure as in Spain a deposit is non-refundable if you change your mind. People have been known to lose money paying a deposit. ...

...

You may want to get a survey done to see if the property is in good order and also a solicitor will check licenses and legalities on the property and the developer if it's a new build.

In England the deposit scheme was stopped years ago.

Properties do not sell fast in Spain no matter what any Agents tell you. So take time to be sure it is the right property for you.

Sorry if you know all this but just worth checking.

A world where properties do not sell fast in Spain !

There may be an upturn in the market but it's after a slump of around of 10 years . Yes it's a good thing but properties are still not flying off the shelves ! No matter what anyone says..

Transferwise or Currencies Direct. Better exchange rates and low fee = more cash into your account!!

Check out Revolut card. No fees to transfer. We've used it now for a while. Easy to transfer. Top up and change currencies when you want at the commercial rate. Changes all the time.
