Hi there I’m sure someone will assist me in answering this question. Thank you in advance. We are flying over to Alicante airport on Monday 8th November and picking up a hired car to drive via N332 to villa Martin. Are there restrictions in place for police to stop us driving through the zones (regions/municipalities). Do you know how much the fines are if stopped?

You will be fine both within Valencian community.

Hello

Just remember there is a curfew during the hours from 12midnight - 6am in the whole Valencian region, so no one out on the roads/streets..... other than that  as Adrian said, you will be ok.

Cheers

Thank you for that information - I have been reading the Spanish gov website for information - should we decide to drive instead. I am now aware the restrictions are greater in Spain (keeping you safe), which I now need to consider. We are not resident which may have a bearing on the travel status but have had an apartment for over 20 years now. Thank you again for your reply. Regards

Hi Buddy,

The UK government's website bans travel for tourism and Spain only allows you to transit the country if you're returning to your permanent home, so as you're not resident here, you definitely shouldn't attempt to drive.

If you'll be driving your hire car outside of the curfew hours, as advised by Elinspain, then no problem.  Otherwise, you should take a taxi from the airport to your property, as workers are allowed to be on the roads during curfew.  I believe the cities of Orihuela (not the Costa) and Elche (not the airport) are locked down until 9 November, but unless you specifically need to go to those cities, that shouldn't cause you any problems.

Kind regards,

Kim

A good site to keep an eye on is the Facebook page for N332, which is run in collaboration with officers of the Guardia Civil for English speaking people.   They have been keeping us informed of the rules and regulations during this crisis.  Their website mainly deals with anything to do with driving in Spain but their Facebook page has been used in respect of the crisis.

Ahh Brilliant- I’ll get my son to have a look at it as I don’t have Facebook but he has. Thank you for taking the time to assist me. Regards
