Hi Ahf1063,
Thanks, I should have been clearer. I should have said, "The UK government's website bans travel FROM ENGLAND for tourism....."
Kind regards,
Kim

I think if you on the UK government website it advises against foreign travel , but I can't see where it says banned. Essential travel only one work etc

Hi Barry,
I can't find "advises against" - from memory, that's the wording on the FDCO website.
The link I gave you is to the new regulations which came into force for England on 5 November. I think the wording I pointed you to is categoric (other than for a few lawful exceptions, such as work and funerals):
"You cannot leave home for holidays or stays overnight away from your main home unless permitted by law. This means that holidays in the UK and abroad are not allowed. This includes staying in a second home or caravan, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with."
Kind regards,
Kim

Go on the link you sent me , scroll down to travel and FCDO scroll down to travel and the advises against travel abroad.
It doesn't say banned , I agree that people that travel are taking a risk but it is not banned , which was the point in the first place

Hi Barry,
I think "You cannot....." and "..... are not allowed" are not the same as "advises against.....". Otherwise, why would the government introduce the new regulations at all?
There will always be people who think the rules don't apply to them - I'm just sharing the information.
Kind regards,
Kim

I understand what you are saying but this started by you saying travel was banned.
In exceptional circumstances you can travel abroad.
I am not saying don't follow the rules all I'm saying is travel is not banned.
Many thanks

Hi there I’m sure someone will assist me in answering this question. Thank you in advance. We are flying over to Alicante airport on Monday 8th November and picking up a hired car to drive via N332 to villa Martin. Are there restrictions in place for police to stop us driving through the zones ...

Be aware of the risks . The Spanish government have banned travel to second homes , which is definitely a fineable offence , and be aware that if you travel against uk government advice your health care will be invalid. Some private companies will , at a premium , cover you , but not for covid. I’ve read on here that hospitals are sending uk patients to private hospitals . I needed emergency dental treatment last year and mistakenly used a private clinic ( it had been recommended by our landlord and was the nearest) with my EHIC card and the uk authorities would not pay out. Also covid is only spread by people . People don’t do it deliberately but they are highly infectious for 2 weeks before symptoms appear. The reason the cases are so catastrophic at the moment is that people are travelling when they have been told to stay at home. The UK is on lockdown at the moment for a reason, the same reason that Spain has banned travel .
