I take your points onboard, however, in my opinion the severity of the restrictions in the U.K. has not matched those in Spain and watching Television News, social media and reports from my own family we have the impression that there is widespread disregard for the guidelines. The sight of hundr...

...eds in parks and on beaches, the ability to go out for exercise right from the beginning of the "lockdown" and other breaches of safe distancing does not give us much confidence when it is compared to the virtual total lockdown that we have endured in Spain. Much has been sacrificed and lost and we fear that an influx of people from other Nations ( not just the U.K. ) will set us back and we will be left to pick up the pieces when the second surge hits.

I can understand your point about people coming in from abroad, and I think anyone would be wary of what will happen when tourists do arrive.

Your are right that the lockdown in Spain was more restrictive than in Spain, however you are wrong that there has been widespread disregard for the guidelines in the UK. The vast majority have followed the guidelines, including when going out once a day for exercise. The 2 metre social distancing rule is widely adhered to, including for the now allowed sporting activities. If they had been widely ignored the trends that we are now seeing of reduced deaths and hospitalisation of covid19 cases would not be going down as they are now.

I am not sure if the yobs will be the first on the plane, I hope not, but no I cannot see them using masks. Perhaps as well as a temperature check at the airports there should be a IQ test?

Maybe second home owners should be allowed in first instead of all the yobs ? Just a thought.

So sad that all these postings are so negative and chiefly about the UK.

I’m sure we could all locate Spanish news, media updates etc relating to non-compliance of the Spanish citizens too.  I’ve seen them !

On another note ‘yobs’ as you put it; may even be those who own second homes/properties in Spain.

Try to be kinder people ! post something positive / encouraging for a change instead of using this forum for online point scoring.

Anyway I have had an enjoyable day at home in the garden despite lockdown.

I assume you both live in the uk ? If you don't my apologies but if you do unfortunately you haven't got a clue what a proper lockdown is no exercise only going out the gate for shopping nearest shop only and only 1 from the household weeks we had this so my apologies for trying to protect all Spain's hard work the home owners will undoubtedly respect all the rules in place can you put your hand on heart and say the long weekenders in benidorm for instance will really care about the Spanish covid-19 situation ? I can assure you spain will not hesitate to lock down again

Narrow mindedness get you know where. On a personal note I’ve done exactly as you have  done in Spain to protect my family. We are not all as you think we are.

I feel your pain in your current situation.

Spanish citizens did not have a choice.  The penalties for non-compliance were/are immense I am sure.

It is true to say that planet-wise there are distinct differences  in lockdown rules country by country.  However,  citizens cannot be responsible for their Government’s  processes and therefore, there will always be those  few who will flout rules at any opportunity. And; it is those few that put others in mortal danger and get MSM attention and so it goes on .....

If Spain’s lockdown was not so full on; who knows how its citizens would have behaved, Differently I  suspect.

On a personal note, I would welcome a much stronger lockdown in the UK but this is not to be.

I wish everyone on this forum to keep well and safe.

Oh !  As a footnote:  I am unable to look into the future re Benidorm!

Yes... the  heaviest of fines should be imposed.  Ban them from ever visiting again.

Bye for now ...  enjoy your evening.
