Mary as far as I'm aware you can travel to Spain if you have the PCR test negative from 23 November whatever reason for your travel ,but if I'm wrong I apologise

Hi. I currently live in Spain and at the present time going through the residencia process. My kids all go to school here and we are on the padron.  I was wondering if I go back to England will I need to produce a negative test as well as the qr code?   Just panicking now as only there for the weekend

Thanks

 Hello,

I would say yes, the relevant guide says " Every arrival"   its  nothing, to do with Padron etc .

If the worst came to the worst, you could fly to Dublin and connect for Alicante there.  Apparently, no test is required coming from the Rep. of Ireland.

I hope you enjoy your weekend.

And where does the 14 day quarantine kick in when Nickie (or a.n other) land in the uK for a 2 day stop - are you allowed to then leave England or N.Ireland after 2 days and fly to Dublin, when supposedly in self isolation? Im not querying or disputing anything here, I'm just so confused by the rules, as I suspect most people are!

Well, you are quite right! It’s anyone’s guess.

As far as I know, you don’t have to stay in the UK for 14 days in order to quarantine. You may arrive and stay for any number of days at the address you give on the form you fill in before arriving. After 14 days quarantining, you are free to go where you choose. However, you are equally free to stay at that address for 2 days if that is your plan and then depart fo return to your home in Spain or whatever place you are returning to.  You are questioning returning through Dublin but would you have questioned it if they planned to return through France?  No, That is a fairly normal route for some to take but Dublin could also provide a corridor to travel through as we are still in the EU and Dublin will probably always remain as part of the EU and could become a popular route in order to save on paying for a covid test.

Any further comments?

My husband and I changed out plans and now plan to fly into DUBLIN .  Do we need a Covid 19 test in order to come into the Rep.of Ireland enroute to the North of Ireland?  This has only just occurred to me and I would appreciate a correct answer!

No test necessary to fly into Ireland, just make sure you complete the Passenger locator form. It can be done online. www gov.ie or www.hse.ie. Safe journey.

My comment would be - is flying back to Spain via Dublin just to avoid having a PCR test? Spain have implemented a PCR test to try to reduce the risk of covid19 infections being brought into Spain from high risk countries. Avoiding the test raises the risk is bringing the infection into Spain. I don't think it's a great idea personally.

Aitch.
