A bit off topic but may be of interest, I came down from France a couple of weeks ago expecting to pay tolls from the border at La Jonqera to Taragona as I have in the past but it was totally toll free all the way until Torrevieja. Spain has already stated it will be introducing tolls on all its motorways in 2024.

If you are going towards Alicante join at Quesada junction 745. If you are coming from Alicante get off at junction 745 and join again the junction after La Zenia. Cuts out both tolls.

Sorry, I am confused.

I thought that AP-7 used to have a toll but it was removed (and is now free from the border until exit 745 Torrevieja North) because the toll collected paid for the construction of the road. The toll booths are in the process of being dismantled for the past several months.

Are you saying that tolls are coming back in 2024?

Yes according to the Spanish government. Not sure if they will introduce a vignette system like Switzerland but everyone will have to pay to use the motorways from 2024.

Well that's just "great" :-/ Together with the new eco vignette requirement (coming in 2023), I am really discouraged from spending more time and money in Spain.

Hi I recently used the AP7 when returning from San Miguel de Salinas to Playa Flamenca, using a hire car, paid my toll at the La Zenia booth and then this payment has been refunded a few days later.  I’m concerned that I’m going to return to a fine. Anybody any ideas? Thanks in advance
