["Ministerio de Sanidad is responsible for the quality of the tap water in Spain.

According to them 99.5% of all public tap water in Spain is potable (safe to drink) but this doesn’t necessarily mean that it tastes good or is healthy."]

Here (link:) you can find or request your local tap water report (note that not all companies will provide it despite regulation).

When shopping at any store watch others buying large quantities of bottled water. The President of Murcia brought it to the point when stating in an interview that tap water in Murcia is ALMOST safe.

Thanks !

Hello

Ive drunk tap water here for 17years after 1 year of lugging home heavy bottles I gave it a go and all was fine & tasted ok to me..

I refill smaller bottles from the tap & keep in the fridge until use....Ive also given them to others, friends, workmen etc. who have never refused them on grounds of taste. If I'm out & need to buy water I don't really notice any difference.

Cheers

Elinspain

Thank you

Spain has been a member of the EU for many years and has complied with the requirements to get water safe and clean.

I have been using tap water for 8 years but I do use a filter jug and cool it in the fridge. Tastes good to me.

To much effort lugging 5 ltr bottles of water about which has often been reported as being worse than tap water.

We had a couple of Spanish guys fit a fire in our house, they accepted an offer of a drink but refused tap water. They said in town the water should be okay but as you get into the countryside they didn't trust it. We use bottled given it's so cheap but tap for the kettle.

I read about this in the local paper. The water is safe, but it has an aftertaste as they add a chemical to make it safer. The specialist in the paper said the chemical evaporates so just leave the water in a bottle with the cap off for 24 hours and problem solved.

Since I read that, I fill an 8litre bottle from the tap, leave it for 24 hours with the cap off and then the aftertaste disappears. It’s saved so much plastic and money for me since. I have two bottles on the go, one to use and one evaporating. Mind you, I’m considering the filter idea which is a more expensive version of what I am doing.

We had our tap and well water both tested. The tap water was fine for consumption so we run it through an 8 litre Brittas filter in the fridge before we drink it and it tastes fine

Hi, not sure, but I live torre de la Horadada and I use a distiller and drink it. Better for you too. You can buy these on amazon UK for about 120. They hear up water and purifi it.
