The law in Spain requires 1 month only to be given to cancel insurance

When it comes to the one month rule for cancelling that doesn't apply if you are not renewing because you are not cancelling but choosing to go elsewhere.

Wrong I'm afraid, last year we simply didn't renew less than two weeks before the renewal date by stopping the direct debit.

Hi there it's very good information as we have also home insurance with sabadell bank from past five years. We tried to stop home insurance with bank but they didn't and said we need to make sure that apartment is insured. We are paying quite a lot from past five years nearly 200 euros for 1st floor 2beds apptment. I will check this year and stop direct debt. Thanks for very good and important information.

That does not mean I am wrong which I am not it just means your insurance company decided not to chase you I assure you I know the law in Spain It is part of my job to do so

We will check this year as well and will make sure to renew privately. But the bank some time do not let you do so. I don't know what to do.

Hi, definitely the insurance law establishes the minimum term of ONE month prior to expiration to annul any insurance in a reliable way, this can be by registered letter, burofax or personally presenting the letter in bank / company with copy to obtain the entry stamp and cannot be refused.

Kind regards

We shopped around earlier this year for insurance on a property we had just purchased. We found Spanish-Insurance.net @ Calle La Zenia shopping Mall next to Mercadona were the best priced. They have insured us with generali and gave us the terms and conditions in English while we were in their office.
