Many like myself I have to say do not speak Spanish because we expect the locals to speak English. 

Can you consider for a moment the abuse and criticism that many people who choose to live in the UK from overseas have to contend with if they don't speak English. 

We from the UK who live in Spain are immigrants who just like to dress up the fact and call themselves ex pat's. It's such an inoffensive and flowery term and that's why I'm not surprised that so many people choose to use it.

I'm Welsh and proud of it but I couldn't careless what you call me,  but for the record I am a legal resident in Spain. I've got better things to be doing than having a point less vote on wether I'm an immigrant or ex pat.
