Hi everyone, I'm going to be relocating to Spain from Ireland and I'm looking at places to buy a house. Lá florida /la zenia are contenders, I'm now also looking at villa Martin. I'm a single woman of 60 and young at heart. I like arty crafty things, like to keep fit so I shall be buying a bycicle to get around on. Any thoughts on Villamartin as I'm kind drawn to that particular area.

                             Many thanks

                                           Susan

Villamartin is more hilly than your first choices if bicycle is going to be your mode of transport.

Also there are many more amenities in the La Florida/La Zenia/Playa Flamenca areas and if you fancy the occasional ride to the beach then these areas would be better, it is a long hilly ride back up to Villamartin, I wouldn't fancy that in July and August.

Remember, you are asking about places to live permanently, we are all getting older, you have to consider the long term too, getting the area wrong would be costly, buying and selling property in Spain is an expensive business.

When travel is allowed I would advise visiting these areas, they are all close together and are serviced by a small Costa Azul bus.

There are 2 circular routes that meet in the middle at La Zenia Boulevard, take a ride on each route to get an idea of the areas and have a local map with you of the urbanisations for cross reference.

Yes Paul, I would agree with you.

I recommended it to Susan on one of her previous posts.

Thank you so much Ken, that's brilliant advice. I will certainly take all you have said on board.

Is lá florida a nice area and safe for a woman on her own. I was told that villamartin is more upmarket in comparison to la florida and the other areas mentioned. Was I wrongly informed? I just want to choose the right place and make the right choice as its going to be my forever home. But thanks everyone for being so helpful

I live on a large Urbanisation in Villamartin, apart from the Plaza there are not many bars and restaurants. Just down the road there is an area called Los Dolses, which has lots of properties the downside is the small commercial centre is somewhat run down and apart from a small supermarket and a few bars and cafes there is not much there.

The medical centre that you would be registered at ( if you lived in Villamartin) would be a very challenging & dangerous bike ride away, certainly not for the faint hearted!

Hi Susan. I have a property in Los Dolces near the Dialprix Super market. There are two centres nearby with a handful of restaurants. The plaza at Villamartin is about a twenty minute walk away. Down the road is the Zenia Boulevard shopping centre. As I don't drive in Spain, I find that this area has plenty going on , within walking distance.
