Hi all. We are in the process of purchasing a holiday home and will need to furnish it. I have heard that Jysk is decent and would like to go and have a look when we’re over.

Can anyone advise how I could get there without driving? And, if there’s anywhere else you would advise looking? We will need beds, sofa bed, outdoor furniture etc.

Thank you :)

Hi

Afraid I don’t know about the local buses from Villamartin but you can certainly find furniture at La Zenia Boulevard, https://zeniaboulevard.es/en/stores/home/furniture on the top floor you will find Leroy Merlin https://www.leroymerlin.es/productos/ who have both in doors and garden. They are similar to UK B&Q.

On the same level is https://www.conforama.es a home furniture stor, plus Zara home, https://www.zarahome.com/es/en/ when you open the websites in Google you can choose translate to see the page in English if you want to see what they have before travelling.

There is also a small IKEA although the shop has a small foot print and you order rather than see the items there.

For white goods it’s really worth looking at Carrefour which is a hyper market, again I do not know your area and if there is one in Villamartin but there is close to La Zenia Carrefour - Carretera Alicante-Cartagena N 332, Km 52, 03189 Orihuela Costa, https://www.carrefour.es/

You will though I am sure spot many independent furniture shops along the N322.

Welcome to the Costa Blanca and your new holiday home.

Hi

You won’t find much in JYSK I don’t think. It’s really quite small and limited stock. Kare is lovely but expensive. As said above lots in the boulevard🙂

There are 3 Hnos Garcia in Torrevieja. One on the road past Carrefour to Los Montesinos. Another on the roundabout by the bridge before you cross toward s Carrefour (although that is fairly small and mainly deals with electrical items) and one in Corte Valencias just up from where Iceland used to be. There are also lots of furniture and house items shops along there.

You will get everything you need at Hnos Garcia and the prices include free delivery either same day (if you go early in the morning) or next day unless it's a special order.

How you get there with no transport I have no idea.

You can look online for Hnos Garcia and they have several catalogues to download.

If you don't drive, checking out different stores in this area is time consuming, the local bus service is infrequent and I don't think it runs at all at the weekend.

JYSK used to be great, much better than IKEA, but not now. Conforama is definitely worth a look.

For furniture, if you like IKEA I'd suggest looking at Ikea in the UK, noting down anything that you want, then check IKEA.es online to see if they have the same. You can select English as the language and if you don't want to put the furniture together there are several people around here who will do it for you for a reasonable fee. IkEA deliver.

You can get white goods, bedding, towels, etc, and outdoor furniture in Alcampo hypermarket in La Zenia Boulevard and they will deliver. Alcampo is also great for food shopping online and they deliver it for a small fee, 7€ I think.  Depending on where you are in Villamartin you can walk there, unless it's very hot in which case best take a taxi. You can check them out online.

The previous replies here give some great tips.  So, you should be ok.

Good luck.

Maybe worth looking at a company which will tailor a package for you and deliver - we used this one ( they also made and installed our curtains and blinds) https://www.jewellfurniture.com/

There are a number of price points

JYSK have numerous branches in the area. They don’t stock the huge range in every store but have a fantastic on line service.

Depending on which part of Viilamartin you are in, you have a store a few minutes away. The nearest one to you is by Aldi (Dream Hills), which is an  approximate 30 minute walk away from the Plaza,

And if you use JYSK, be prepared to get the screwdrivers out. Most of the stuff comes flat packed and you have to put them together yourself. Tables, chairs, units etc all flat packed.

I personally like Jysk, it's Danish, an upmarket Ikea.

I don't understand what you mean "decent" in this context,  Referring to JYSK I can tell you the products are excellent Scandinavian design, well made, and the employees are very helpful.

Welcome and good luck, J

Hello

Absolutely agree with Janice. I love Jysk and am planning a visit soon & I have no transport either.

From Torrevieja  ( Bus interchange , stop near the harbour), the Line F/D bus stops outside the Commercial Centre in Punta Prima where Jysk is located.

If I buy more than I can carry, I get a taxi back to La Mata, anything larger gets delivered

Cheers
