Hi, I live in la zenia area, I want to buy a simple security light with motion sensor and camera ( WiFi to phone like the popular “ Ring” type,) not too sure where to buy as I want to avoid the chino if I possibly can on this one!- and other retailers seem quite expensive ~ any recommendations?

Try Leroy Merlin in the boulevard for security lights.

Tapo cameras available from Amazon.es are great and can be delivered quickly to the amazon lockers in the boulevard.

I know that you want to avoid Chinese tech' but I 2nd the recommendation for Tapo cameras & smart switches, all of which can be run from the same app.

We have them in our UK & Spanish properties and use a camera to check humidity levels and smart plug to turn on dehumidifier, along with usual security functions.

Hi Andy,

Third recommendation for Tapo cameras -attached is a photo of the TP-Link TAPO C310, available from Amazon.  Excuse the quality of the photo, but I took it from the Guardia Civil policeman's mobile phone who recommended them to me.

Kind regards,

Kim

Under Spanish regulations regarding cameras you must have the camera positioned so you are not filming any public areas, only your own property.

Amazon, if you are happy to go down the DIY route.

CCI (security and safety shop) about 5 doors up from Hotel Fontana Plaza on Ramon Gallud

Will have to try to find the rules. We are in an  apartment with two other properties who would pass by our door.

We are looking at a Tapo camera. We could possibly have it positioned at one side of the door wall facing the lock so not to video anyone else.

It's a matter of common sense and always best to use a neighbourly approach. We have a Tapo on our stairwell looking down to our communal entrance. We asked our neighbours in the apartments below, 1 Spanish & 1 UK holiday home owner, if they minded our camera covering our stairs. (also part of their entry/exit, 4 steps).

Absolutely no problem. Our Spanish neighbour also install the same type of camera to overlook his terrace, which also covers our initial stairs.

We all have the requisite yellow video warning sign with our name/contact details and data protection information. None of the cameras cover any public space.

Perfect way to work it out between neighbours. Well done.
