This has just been taken from the El Pais site:

The Valencia region will extend its perimetral lockdown until January 31. Entry to and from the region will be allowed for essential travel such as to go to work and other reasons of force majeure outlined in the state of alarm. From Thursday, the region’s curfew starting time will be pushed...

... forward to 10pm.

Social gatherings are limited to six people and hostelry establishments must close at 5pm. Under the new measures, smoking in outdoor dining areas is banned and only four people are allowed at the same time in restaurants. Capacity in stores will also be cut from 50% to 30%.

In other service establishments, such as supermarkets, pharmacies and hairdressers, capacity is limited to 50%. Starting Thursday, 29 municipalities with a high coronavirus incidence rate will be under a perimetral lockdown for two weeks.

Only land borders are closed. In fact we arrived in Alicante from Barcelona airport on a jam packed flight

Definitely keep an eye on the news / N332 site. Things are changing daily. I understand that Murcia has effectively locked down...and that isn't far away from us, already recognising the current restrictions in place. Valencia may elect to do similar given the increases of infection in Sax etc.

What I would be concerned about is the ability to travel back and the in-country restrictions there. 'Essential travel' doesn't seem to extend to 2nd homes...but this only hearsay, not grounded knowledge.

Good luck!

Correct - while depressing, certain areas are effectively in "confinement" and that includes Xàtiva:

Not sure if you can go into Xativa. Police presences on all entrances on Friday questioning drivers on their intentions, where they had come from and where they lived.

I know but we need to check for important mail...? Any idea if this would be an exception?

They might not be there at all times and you do have a legitimate case for entry, give it a try, they can only say no.
