30/04/2023  Hi All

Can anybody please recommend any good private dentist and medical health care insurance companies anywhere in Spain?

Currently in Lliria, Valencia, but thinking about moving elsewhere in Spain.

Many thanks.

Most of the well known companies, ie Assisa etc operates nationally. Ask your current insurer?

Thank you for the information.  My current insurer is the Belgian healthcare (for medical and dentist), and I have bumped into chaos between the Belgian government healthcare and the Spanish government healthcare, so my husband and I are looking into other healthcare companies sowe can both have medical healthcare and dentist care.  What is your experience with Assisa?  Do you know if ASSA also help with prescription medication?  Monthly, quarterly or yearly roughly how much does it cost?  Do they offer a respectful medical and dental policy?

I have little personal knowledge of private healthcare systems here as we are registered with the National Spanish healthcare system. But I have heard people speak very highly of Assisa, as well of course of Sanitas which is the Spanish version of one of the best UK private insurers, BUPA.

However, whilst there may be a very small allowance towards prescriptions, ( not of course including any necessary medications prescribed during a hospital stay which would be included in cover), it is not usual for any private insurer to cover prescription charges. As for costs, much depends upon your age and any previous conditions, long term medications etc.

Your best solution is to make enquiries of the companies. There is also an international outfit called DKV whom I believe originate in Germany but operate here and of whom users speak highly.

Private health insurance does not cover prescriptions and you will need to meet the full costs of these. Most private medical insurance policies do not cover pre-existing conditions.
