I discovered that if, as in my case, you have a UK shotgun or firearm certificate then you can get you licence without the hassle of the interview and test. I had no difficulty whatsoever.... Get a Gestor who knows the ropes....

Yes an EU licence is exchangeable, unfortunately the person who asked doesn't have a FAC at all. Mine had lapsed so I had to sit the test.

Why ?
What are you questioning here Richard - ie what is the single word “Why?” referring to?
Following, as my son has recently discovered a rifle range near us in the uk but we are moving to Xativa in September 2021 so would love to know if there is somewhere local to take him to for his new hobby.
I don't know about rifle ranges but there are several clay pigeon facilities in the area. Certainly one in Gandia and another in Carcaixent.

Dazz and others
Apologies for the repeat question, the Covid lockdown derailed my efforts to secure a Spanish Shotgun licence two years ago.
So; for the sake of clarity. I'm keen to get back to owning a Shotgun. (I had a couple of Beretta's while living in the USA, shot both clays and upland game).
Looks like I need a Hunting license which I now understand to be an easy change of twenty euro for same in a gun shop.
A medical, I know where to go locally for this.
Passing a written test, correctly answering better than 16 out of 20 questions. I have what I believe to be the questions, all 68 of them, and am studying same to associate the correct answer with the question as my Spanish is less than brilliant. Does anyone know categorically what the current list of questions actually is? (just in case I'm memorising an old list and will be stumped by now questions I've not practiced).
The shooting test, a 50cm target at 25m, not worried about that.
Any offers of help GREATLY appreciated.
Many thanks
Greg

I will try that route and post updates here so all can follow my progress. Really appreciate the help.
Cheers

Thanks all.
{Post Covid; perhaps, I am still very keen to secure a Spanish Shot gun Licencia but am getting really disheartened the further I investigate. Seems like the theory test actually has 400 possible questions and having downloaded and translated the challenge just looks too steep.
I’ve owned and shot both shotguns and semi auto pistols while living in the US. Know all the technical stuff and the safety but these questions, in Spanish, are just beyond me.
Anyone know of a person / company that can help me get through this so that i can move on to owning a shotgun again. Paying for this service is not a problem if that’s what is needed.
Many thanks
Greg

...cias D, E y AEM (guardiacivil.es). If you open the link in google chrome it will automatically translate it to English, open the PDF file, then click the download button at the top once it's opened. The pdf files are in Spanish, so you'll need to run them through google translate or similar.
The translation isn't perfect, but if you know a bolt from a cartridge it's managable. From memory they randomly choose 20 questions from the list.
You have to try to learn the Spanish word for each part. It helped that I used to use a club that is mainly Spanish and used by lots of guardia, they were very helpful teaching me but amused at my crap pronunciation :)
If you are only clay pigeon shooting is there nowhere locally that does it on a day permit instead of going through the hassle of a licence?
Okay. A year on and still no progress by me. I have confirmed with the local Guardia that the theory test must be taken by n Spanish, no interpreter allowed.
SO. My new mission is to find a Spanish teacher in the Xativa area who is prepared to help me learn the required Spanish to pass that test. Any help and or recommendations greatly appreciated.
What a nightmare 😯 could you not go to a local clay shooting club and mix with any English people there who could show you the ropes etc, being a member of a club may help with your application, when I applied for my SGC in the UK I went to a local shooting ground and paid for shooting lessons, gun safety, how to shoot etc even though I already knew it as had held a licence 10 years previously but it lapsed, I also joined BASC, maybe worth exploring something along that route.
There must be local Facebook pages, shooting forums etc which local gun owners frequent.
