I retired from working in local Costa Blanca education, so I have a Spanish state pension and my UK state pension. Because the combined pension is paid in by TWO payers (Spain/UK) the tax taken by Hacienda is much higher.  A teacher friend of mine is in a similar position - he has his Spanish pension and has just started receiving his UK state pension - and tells me his UK pension is entirely wiped-out by the amount Hacienda will take.  (Well, not entirely: he will be left with one pound a month of his UK state pension!)

How can this possibly be right?  We both calculated our pensions before retiring, thinking it was not grand, but at least enough to live on.  We were unaware that Hacienda would take most or all of our UK pension and life is now a real struggle.  I've suggested to my friend that we should seek a proper tax consultant (rather than the usual gestoria people who do our annual tax returns.)  

Anyone else with experience on this theme?

Hi everyone. 

I own a home in Alicante. I am not a resident. I am buying a used car. I have a man/friend checking out the car that knows about cars. My friends are mostly Spaniards. 

What is the process? What do you do with deposit and paying when I come back into Spain 

I have a Florida license and an international license   As I understand that I do not need a license thee because I am only there  a short amount of time. 

One of my main questions is… someone said that if I do not have a Spaniard license I can not own a manual car. And that I have to buy an automatic car.  I looked everywhere.  I can not find this to be true. 

Help. Let me learn from your mistakes.  I am single.  And I made too many mistakes with the house. I am hoping this is easier.

I prefer a car with a Sunroof or a working convertible top. No black cars.  But I am open minded with others.

Where do I buy an Orxeta bumper sticker? I looked everywhere. I think I will just customize my own decal. 

I understand Orcheta is divided into the main pueblo and Bella Orcheta.  In either location are there any bars and also any local shops to buy the  daily basics?
