Local Builder extortion 10% fee to other builders - 8 replies
I have a property on a urbanisation that villas are owned privately, there are no residential restrictions other than government laws. I am looking to have some building work done however a local builder who is not very reputable is saying that anyone who works on property on this urbanisation has to pay him 10% . This builder has not been given any privilege to do this by our administration. Can he enforce this or is he just a bully and chancing his arm?
Thankyou

Returning to Spain after 90 days - 8 replies
Hi,
I know lots has been written on this topic but for whatever reason it still does not seem clear!
We are exploring a longer term move to the San Juan Alicante region and will have been here for 90 days at the end of June.
I understand all the requirements for registering for NIE and tax liability after 6 months etc but under the current (pre-brexit!) rules I want to clarify if it is possible to leave Spain after 90 days and then return immediately without having to register for an NIE number. We will do that if we stay long term, just trying to avoid the paperwork in the short term!
Any advice appreciated.
Cheers
Ian

Lomi Lomi Massage: What to Expect
Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage techniques usually commences with stillness and silence between the therapist and client, where therapist will rest their hands gently on the clients back. In this stillness the practitioner will quietly say a blessing or prayer asking for whatever healing is needed to take place during the massage. There is no set format, every Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage is instead dictated by your body’s individual energy flow and therefore no two massages will ever be identical. The massage techniques is given in fluid, rhythmic motion using full hand, forearms as well as the palms. Some people have described this technique as feeling like gentle waves moving over the body. Another feature is that different parts of the body may be massaged at the same time, for example therapist will work upon your shoulder and lower back or upper leg. This assists the recipient in deep relaxation as it is impossible or at least extremely difficult for the brain to focus on the two different areas at once. Lomi Lomi massage strokes help to free the energy, make the body soft, promoting free and abundant flow of life energy in the recipient.Gentle stretches of the body and gentle rotations of the joints are therefore also incorporated to assist the release of tensions and assist the flow of energy, once again not forcing, but feeling the level of the client’s resistance or comfort.Dance-work or hula movements, combined with the breath-work of the practitioner are also important and integral aspects of Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage techniques. Movements assisting the energy flow both within the practitioner and recipient and helps keep the energy at a high level.Another major difference from other massage techniques is that the person lays directly on the vinyl of the table and not on a towel and rather than being coveredcompletely by towels, is covered by a small sheet or towel leaving most of the body exposed during the Hawaiian Lomi Lomi massage, whilst maintaining the recipients modesty. This makes it a lot easier to perform the under-body and full body strokes without interrupting the flow of the massage.
To ensure the comfort of the client, heater is used to maintain the room temperature at a warm level.

Expats/networking groups in San Juan Alicante? - 0 replies
Hi! We will be living in the San Juan area for a few months from April ‘19 and are keen to meet any local ex-pats or learn of any local networking groups, English or Spanish especially for kids in San Juan & the surrounding area. We have 2 young daughters (3 & 6 months), the oldest will be going to the local Somos Infancia but my wife would be keen to meet other mums while I will be working.
Any local hits, tips or knowledge is appreciated!
