It's worthwile having a good look around the area you fancy viewing property prior to walking through the door.

Also remember that the actual outside space around your potential property is as important as the inside. We certainly spend more time outside 9 months of the year.  Ability for table/chairs in the sun & the shade. Where the sun comes up in the morning over your property, how much sun you get during the daylight hours.

It's not just a dream, go & live it !

My god Ros what are you trying to do traumatise everyone.

I came here 2 years ago and got negativity and it is nothing like that. The rain is one off and does clear quicker than UK and there are pockets of trouble anywhere in the world but I would much prefer the no nonsense Guardia looking after us in Spain than the Police in UK.

My suggestion get an estate agent to do all the searching for you and one that knows all the areas and tells it as it is. I used www.spanishpropertyteam.com as no b******t and to the point.

Good luck

Hello everyone:

I am sorry Gilly09, I don't want scare someone but I am free to give my opinion.

I live here since I was born and I know a lot of experiences about people that bougth a property and they are unhappy after when they find a "surprise". Of course in the another side there is happier people but better to have all info before buy.

I am going to tell my personal experience: I am renting a house in Guardamar and I am so happy where I live, but I chose the house knowing what was the problem arround because I knew the area. There is a pub just in front of my house that everyday close at 3.30am and there is people (99% spanish)sitting on the street until they close.

I met a family in my building that didn't have the info and they would never had chose a house arround because the noise don't let them sell until 3.30am.

I am sorry but I don't trust almost no-one on a Real State since they refuse any responsibility after you sign the contract.

Everyone has different experiences and most by whether they live positively or negatively as like attracts like.

I am all for honest opinions but from facts and figures not emotions.

Sorry but my experience of Spain is different yes I have had not so great things but recognise that was due to my negativity.

Forarmed is forewarned but over negativity is not nice to receive.

I think that notes of caution are a good idea , the thrill of buying a holiday home

can lead to decisions with the heart rather than the head ; obviously there are

good outcomes too -but I repeat my earlier observation :-

Get yourself a recommended Solicitor first , they will outline the quite complex

property laws / Buying taxes / fees / charges / Community fees & runnng costs,

and you then have someone to consult before you commit. We have bought in

Spain twice using this approach and have been delighted on both occasions....Jim.

We bought June this year, and almost gave up looking, but casa Manuel found us the perfect property and helped us through the whole process.. and we're not pushy at all.

We stayed in la zenia , and had eyes for playa flamenca,  really thought it's what we wanted, but too noisy and busy..

Tim at casa Manuel took us out of our comfort zone.. and we were blown away.. lomas de Cabo roig turned out perfect.. lovely bars shops all in walking distance (less than 5 mins away) and a bus stop.

But the peace and quiet when we are home..

Get advice from those that know... we would have never have found our beautiful casa had we done it ourself..

Good luck!
